Is lactose free milk a good substitute when trying to eliminate dairy from your diet due to IBS?

My 13 year old daughter suffers from severe gas daily, so I am trying to figure out what is causing her discomfort. I am eliminating dairy from her diet for one week as a test. Today I purchased 100% lactose free milk but I am wondering if I should have went with a soy milk instead. Any helpful thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :0)

Lactose free milk should be okay for trying to cut out dairy products. Cheese is a big problem for people who are sensitive to dairy products. However, yogurt usually is good. My mother had that problem and getting off cheese and eating yogurt helped her a lot. She also used lactose free milk and did very well with it.
opt for soy or almond milk. avoid all milk products and give her probiotics daily.
