If you are sure that you have IBS, do you have to have a colonoscopy done or can the doctor just prescribe the medication that you need to be "normal"?

well, my husband has this for a while now,
indigestion, stomach pain, going to the bathroom but nothing happens, the feeling he gets when he has this, is the feeling of needing to use the bathroom for number 2….bleeding in rectal or during excretatory….

I had puristat helps, but anything he can take naturually or help the pain now??

he’s been seening gastrology doctor and had his colonoscopy done 3 times, and on prescriptions, but none is working for him….

I am getting ready to sign up for flexible spending at work. I need to know about how much surgery would cost. I am pretty positive I have colon endo. I am going to go back to the doc to discuss this once I get insurance. I told a former doc that I have always bled rectally when I have my period (for about 18 years now) and she looked at me like that was the strangest thing she had ever heard of and recommended a colonoscopy (which I am about to have done.). Also, I have a very physical job (I walk 8 hours a night and lift heavy boxes). How long do you think I would need to miss work? Thanks for any help.
Before anyone asks. I didn’t seek help for this before because I have bled like this since I first started my period. I never thought it was abnormal (I know duh!). When I told the doc that I was having pelvic pains I had an ultra sound and laproscopy and they discovered I have PCOS.

I have had recurring right abdominal pain for over a year. I had a CT that showed the colon is bunched up on the right side. I had a barium enema that came back normal. The doctor cannot do a colonoscopy as he doesn’t feel he will make the turn where it is bunched up. What if anything can we be missing in the colon that is causing pain that wouldn’t have shown in the barium enema.

One of the symptoms of Crohn’s disease is skin changes. I have looked on the web but i cant find anything. Does anyone with this or knows how the skin looks?

I have massive pain, bleeding, diarrhea, every time go to the bathroom there is cramps.I go about 3 times a week sometimes its more sometimes less. About once a month i get a rlly bad one where it last for hours and the pain is massive. Sometimes the pain is so bad i just wanna die.
I also have dark ashy spots on my hands toes and ankles. [no its not cause i need lotion] People say it looks like i been in a fight. Its kinda brown and its thick skin. It wont go away with anything the doctors have no idea what it is.

I had a colonoscopy about a year ago. He said i had a Spastic colon. A lot of the symptoms are the same as mine but idk something does not add up. My husband has IBS and his is nothing like mine. I just dont think i have IBS i think it issomethingg else. I do have Crohn’s in my family which makes me lean towards that. Any chance my GI doctor got it wrong? Even though i had colonoscopy? I have been dealing with the pain for 7 years. Sometimes idon’tt think i can do it anymore. Its like i am going threw labor once a month with these cramps!

My grandma did a colonoscopy which came back good today..she is having severe diarrhea though. Is this normal? For how long does this continue? Is it ok to give her some diarrhea medicine?

She had a bowel obstruction about a week ago, but it is now cleared.

I was diagnosed with diverticulosis, after a colonoscopy. The symptoms I have are chronic constipation with bloating. I see that the symptoms are the same for IBS. I am wondering if there are two different names for the same condition?
