If a person suspects that they have IBS, do they HAVE to have a colonoscopy?
If you are sure that you have IBS, do you have to have a colonoscopy done or can the doctor just prescribe the medication that you need to be "normal"?

One person says fasting is 80 mg to 130 mg before meals and another says 80 to 120. For after meals one says 80 mg to 120 and another says 80 to 150. Which is correct? I am not on medication–just diet and exercise.
I was diagnosed with IBS, and nothing seems to help. Not the medication, laxatives, a high fiber diet, stool softners, nothing. Some weeks I’m fine, but for some reason other’s I’m not, and I don’t change my diet. I’m completely miserable, does anyone hace suggestions? Laxatives were my last shot, and that didn’t work.
I am 14 years old, and I have had IBS since I was about 12. I am on prescription medication, and I try to not get stressed out, and that is very hard for me. Almost every time I go out, my IBS acts up. How can I stop this ?
My doctor is telling me I’m diabetic. My fasting glucose is 125 (was 94 last time), and my A1c is 6.2 (never had this test before). I think she is being overly conservative, and that I’m only pre-diabetic at this time. She wants to put me on medication, and I don’t wish to take any more pills at this point, since I’m already on blood pressure medication. She is going to have me repeat the bloodwork in two weeks. If my levels have not decreased, she wants to prescribe Glucophage for me. What are some things I can do over the next two weeks to insure that my results will be as close to normal as possible? I know I should keep my carb consumption low, but is there anything else I can do as well?
Has anyone else got the two together? I sometimes cant go to the toilet for days. Now Ive just recently started taking medication for the Ulcerative colitis but it seems to only make things worse. The other night I had constant stomach ache but didn’t go to the toilet. Now when I eat I simply feel sick. I have been to the toilet but just a bit each time. What should I do. The doc said I should just caryr on on the meds and everything should get better but this is painful
I left work sick Sunday morning at 1am with diarrhea. I have been taking Pepto non stop since then but it doesn’t seem to be working. I haven’t eaten since Saturday night because I’m afraid to. I have only been drinking water and Gatorade. Is there any other medication I can try that will work on it?
I am almost 39 with congestive heart failure, spastic colon, schyzaphrenia, & morbid obesity. (I know, what a combo!) (Can you say Loser?) I recently got put on Hyoscyamine for my spastic colon. I looked up this medication & it’s also used for control of respitory secretions in end of life care. This statement scared me & got me wondering if the Dr’s arent’ telling me all I should know. I’d appreciate your input. Thanks
She has diarrhea, and has had it for a long time. she doesn’t have worms or enzyme insuffiecy. And how can I help her? I’ve already tried rice, chicken, keopectate, different kinds of dog food, and yogurt.
I’ve taken her to the vet alot! and have spent alot in tests and medication. the vet says its probably irritable bowel syndrome and that we should be careful about stressing her out, like don’t get her to excited.
